The media industry is navigating a pivotal moment of transition, a consumer led shift from a managed broadcast environment to an allInternet future. This is far more than a technical upgrade; it represents a fundamental disruption of the viewer content relationship.

In 1992, Bruce Springsteen’s ‘57 Channels and Nothin’ On” captured the perceptions of the early satellite era – a time when dozens of channels were an overwhelming landscape. Today, that abundance is quaint. Now our homes have access to more than 5,000 channels and billions of assets across streaming apps like Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney, YouTube, and TikTok.

As industry analyst Evan Shapiro observes, the very definition of “television” has fundamentally shifted for the younger demographics. Broadcast television is an invisible relic for old people; for them, the new content sources of streamers and social video platforms is television.
